Here’s the main thing I want to tell you: I am using this 12-inch skillet for dinner
literally almost every night and it is awesome. This 12-inch skillet is wider than any of my other pans. I can cook up to 4-6 pieces each of chicken or salmon. It’s a great pan for browning, and it releases food easily. It is PFAS-free. It’s made in America. It’s made in the USA. I know (because people tell me!) Today, we’re going to get into the details! Nordic Ware’s Basalt Ceramic nonstick cookware checks off all the boxes. The Basalt Ceramic Nonstick cookware is a new product that was introduced within the past year. It’s made to meet Minnesota regulations regarding the use of PFAS. Here are 5 of my favorite things!1. These pans are incredible for cooking proteins.
I use my Basalt Ceramic Nonstick cookware for everything, including a pasta skillet and a one-pan dish of chicken and rice.
But I love them most for sauteing and frying proteins.
. These pans are incredible for cooking proteins. The pans consistently brown the outside of the meat but still allow it to be released easily. The outside of the pan has a ceramic nonstick surface, but the base is aluminum. This is why the pan sears and cooks evenly. Basalt Ceramic Nonstick cookware is the best. Shrimp, chicken, salmon, eggs, and tofu – all of them cook perfectly in these pans.
My Favorite Pan SizesI have literally all of the sizes of this line, and these are my two favorites:the 8-inch skillet (the little “egg pan” that is perfect for cooking 1-3 eggs at a time)
the 12-inch skillet (a wide skillet that works amazingly well for everyday dinners for 4-6 people)

4. They Are Made In The USA By a Family-Owned Company.
There are only two companies that are making their cookware products right here in the USA – Lodge (Tennessee) and Nordic Ware (Minnesota). As a Minnesotan, I love that these pans are made not just in the USA, but specifically right here in our beloved home state of Minnesota! We had the chance to tour the Nordic Ware factory and headquarters. I love how they are family-owned and have a transparent manufacturing process. You can see these pans being manufactured in the factory right here!5. You know how much I like low maintenance and Basalt Ceramic nonstick cookware is no exception. The pans are easy to clean and do not stain. In about 30 seconds you can wash them inside and outside. I don’t put them in the dishwasher.
For cooking:
- Keeping the heat at a medium temperature will also keep pans in pristine condition. This also helps to keep the release properties of the pans at their best. When the heat is right and you add just a small amount of butter or oil, your eggs, chicken or tofu should easily slide and flip! If you have any questions, I can answer them myself or connect you with the Nordic Ware Team! You can watch more videos of the pans here.
