The family of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson
is hoping for privacy to mourn. The statement was obtained by NBC News on December 5.
After United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was killed in New York City, Dec. 4, taped a message to their front door in Maple Grove Minn. The statement read: “Brian was a generous, loving man who lived life to its fullest. He touched many lives.”The Thompson family, including Brian’s wife

and the couple’s sons, requested privacy while the New York Police Department continued the search for Brian’s killer. The family said that Brian was a loving father who will be missed by his two sons. “We appreciate your condolences and request complete privacy as our family moves through this difficult time.”
Brian–who took over as United Healthcare’s CEO in 2021–was fatally shot at around 6:46 a.m. just outside the Hilton Hotel on Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue Dec. 4. NBC News reported that the NYPD believes this shooting was a “premeditated and preplanned attack.”
