Timothee Chalamet reveals singing “War” on the set of ‘Complete unknown’

Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Roan and Ladybird (2017) co-stars reunited on the 18th of December at BFI Southbank London for a discussion about their careers and collaborations.

Chalamet, who is nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Actor or Actress, revealed that he had a lot of anxiety about playing Song To Woody on his first attempt. He also said that the film was divided over whether he would sing the song live or use prerecorded music.
“I was part of the group that wanted it done live, because it was folk music and Bob Dylan’s voice was definitely matching mine. Chalamet said that he didn’t want Bob Dylan to mimic him in a L.A. studio six months before the shoot. When that song

went well, I felt I had the green light to work on the film with the music team to always do it in live.

The Dune: Part Two alum revealed the advice his co-star Edward Norton provided him to help reinforce his decision: Edward Norton was always in his ear telling him “You sound better live. Do it live,” which was good ammunition.

The book Dylan Goes Electric by Elijah Wald is the basis for A Complete Unknown! Newport, Seeger and Dylan: The Night that Split the Sixties. The story follows the legendary troubadour Bob Dylan, as he creates new sounds in folk music while going against conventions in context with other great singers.

Chalamet, Ronan and Greta Gerwig also shared their memories of the first time they met at Greta Gerwig’s apartment during a Lady Bird rehearsal. We were lucky to click right away. Ronan gushed, “We had Greta who seemed so excited by what was happening between us from the very first day.”

She continued, “Maybe a first.” “I’d like to make a biopic about someone but I won’t say who because I don’t want anyone to steal it.” Ronan confirmed the person in question is alive, but not aware of her plans to create a film based on their life.
