The quest for farming on Mars

Once, water flowed over the surface of Mars. The waves slapped the shorelines. Strong winds howled and gusted. Driving rain fell out of thick clouds. Mars was about half the size of Earth, and that’s where things went wrong. Mars’ core cooled rapidly, leaving it without a magnetic sphere. It was then vulnerable to solar winds, which carried away much of the planet’s atmosphere. Mars would not be able to retain heat without a shield that protects it from the sun’s UV rays. The subsurface absorbed most of the water, leaving only a small amount of water at the poles. Those days of Mars having grass are gone. But could they start again? Read the full story.
