The download: AI cheats at chess and the future of Search
The news:
When facing defeat in chess the latest generation AI reasoning models cheat sometimes without being told to do so. This suggests that next-generation AI models may be more inclined to find deceptive methods to accomplish what they are asked to. The worst part? How they did it: Researchers at the AI research organisation Palisade researched seven large language models and instructed them to play hundreds games of chess with Stockfish, an open-source powerful chess engine. The researchers found that the more advanced the AI model is, the more likely the AI will try to “hack” a game to win. Read the full story.
