The costume designer of Agatha All Along on the Maleficent outfit

He’s William Kaplan but, as many fans have already guessed, he’s Billy Maximoff – the resurrected child of Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlet Witch. Agatha’s (Kathryn Hahn’s) coven is walking the Witches’ Road, and he’s hoping to find Tommy, his long lost twin brother. After the finale, we won’t be able to tell if there’s a reunion in store. But it’ll hard to find a moment that can top Billy’s transformation from Sleeping Beauty villain Maleficent into the Disney antihero Angelina Jolie, in “Death’s Hand in Mine.” Agatha was the green-skinned Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. Daniel Selon, the costume designer for the show, said that Billy’s look was Maleficent. This was exciting to both the viewers and Daniel Selon. In a new interview with Variety, Selon (who was part of the Emmy-winning costume department on WandaVision) explained the careful planning and thought process that went into creating Locke’s ensemble. He said that they looked at the original Maleficent, which is played by a woman presenting Evil Queen, and saw her in a large, voluminous gown. It was like, “OK Joe, will we put you in a dress or pants? “

It turned out that it did not become pants and Marvel and Disney were fine with this. “We asked the question. We wanted to make sure that everyone in the chain knew what we were doing. Is this cool or not? Everyone said, “Absolutely, yes.” ‘”

With this detail out of his way, Selon plowed ahead; he told Variety that the only direction he received for the design was to ensure Locke felt “at [his] most powerful” when wearing it. “

has these small leather… segments that have a reflecting quality, but also looks like armored Dragon skin. And so I sort of wanted to push him from the feminine into this sort of dragon which Maleficent becomes.”
