The 5 Best Hotels In Vancouver (Updated for 2024).
Vancouver is my favourite city in Canada. It’s no wonder that Vancouver is consistently ranked among the world’s most livable cities. The city has it all. The city is full of friends, has a great quality of life and offers easy access to hiking trails. There are many neighborhoods and hotels in Vancouver. It’s a large city with a lot to do and see. Plus, it’s one of the most expensive cities in the country, so a lot of the hotels here are overpriced.
To help you get the best value (and have a great stay), here’s my list of the best hotels in Vancouver, based on my twenty years of visiting the city:
1. Rosedale on Robson Suite Hotel
Located in Yaletown’s upscale area, this three-star property is ideal for budget travelers. There are kitchenettes with microwaves, stovetops and fridges in the rooms. This allows you to save money on eating out (I love Vancouver but all that sushi can add up!) Although the rooms don’t look very nice (think old carpets and bland wall colors), the emphasis is on functionality rather than style. The rooms are spacious and have lots of natural lighting. Each room has a desk and TV, and the beds are comfortable. There is also an indoor swimming pool, a gym, and a garden terrace. One downside to the free Wi-Fi (one device per hotel room) is its limited availability. Overall, it is the best hotel for the money in the area.

2. Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver hotel
Located only two blocks from waterfront, this four star hotel offers an incredible value. The hotel has a heated pool outside for the nice weather, as well as a spa, hot tub and fully-equipped gym. On-site, there’s also a restaurant and bar that focus on local, fresh cuisine. Stanley Park is a quick walk away. The park is bigger than Central Park, New York City’s, and Vancouver’s. Although the rooms are dated, (the carpets and colours don’t look very stylish to me), they’re spacious and bright with plenty of natural light from the large floor-to ceiling windows. Bathrooms are also bright, and they feature showers that have decent pressure as well as bidets. The breakfast is not included but there are many tasty options available a la cart. These range from healthy breakfast powerbowls to steak and eggs. This is a nice, upscale option in a great area.

3. Fairmont Pacific Rim
This gorgeous five-star resort is sure to impress. This hotel offers a rooftop pool, an opulent spa and a cocktail bar. It also has a fitness center with a large space, as well as a nightly live performance in the lounge. If you want to splurge on a decadent breakfast, they also have a delicious (but expensive) option. The concierge can help arrange childcare and rent you bikes or e-bikes. What I love and find super unique is the private library with bookshelves that go from floor to ceiling. The rooms are stylish, large and feature a contemporary style with light colors and wood accents. The rooms are spacious, have large windows and a desk for when you need to do some work. They also feature luxurious beds and linens. The bathrooms are bright and spacious, with showers that have a good pressure. It is the height of luxury and the ideal choice for those in need of some pampering. This is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re on vacation.

4. Blue Horizon Hotel
This modern four-star property offers great value. Indoor pool, small gym (with weights), sauna and steam room. The hotel has a restaurant that serves a tasty breakfast. There are plenty of choices for every diet, even though it is not included. Although the bathrooms aren’t large, they have a good shower pressure and include slippers and bathrobes. The corner rooms have balconies with incredible views of the city, mountains or bay. If you are planning to do a lot of shopping or eating out, this is the place for you.

5. Granville Island Hotel
This hotel is located on Granville Island. This is one of the busiest areas in the city, as it is home to the Public Market. This three-star hotel has all the amenities you’ll need for an affordable and relaxing stay. The hotel has a gym, sauna and spa. You can also rent e-bikes to explore the surrounding area. (I like biking here in the summer.) The rooms also feature large beds, desks and flatscreen TVs. They are equipped with complimentary toiletries and coffee/tea machines. Although the bathrooms are not huge, they are clean and modern, with good shower pressure. Breakfast is not included but it’s delicious with lots of choices (eggs and French toast as well as fresh fruit). While it is centrally located, this hotel feels like a little oasis with a great view of the marina. This hotel is the perfect choice if you’re looking to be in the middle of all the action.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Travel insurance will protect you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. This is comprehensive coverage in the event of an emergency. It’s the only thing I take on trips as I have used it so many times. Discover Cars, a website that offers affordable international car rentals, is my favorite. They’ll find you the cheapest and best rental car for your trip, no matter where you are going! You can find all the companies I use when I travel to save money. You will also save money if you use them. Want More Information about Canada? Visit our comprehensive destination guide for Canada to get even more tips on planning your trip!
