Studiocanal Teases Vincent Mael Cardona’s Thriller “No One Will Know”
EXCLUSIVE : Studiocanal revealed a new image of Vincent Mael Cardona’s tense thriller, No One Will Know. The studio will launch sales for the film at this week’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous.
The huis Close follows clients and bar staff in a shabby café outside Paris, in the early morning hours. They enter into a fatal pact after an elderly regular wins EUR294,000,000 in the lottery.
Cardona’s ensemble cast includes Pio Marmai, Sofiane Zermani, Panayotis Pacot (Loup Garous), Lucie Zhao (Paris 13th District), and Joseph Olivennes.
Maria de Meideros, Pulp Fiction’s eccentric, tough-talking landlady, joins them as she stumbles into the dangerous plan. This sends all participants on a downward spiral.
Cardona has released his second film, Magnetic Beats. It is set in the Brittany radio pirate scene of the 1980s. The film premiered at Cannes Directors Fortnight in 2021 to critical acclaim.
Easy Tiger (Srab Fims, Saint Omer, Les Misérables) and Studiocanal produced the $6.8M movie (EUR6.7M).
Studiocanal unveiled a fast-paced preview of the film at an Unifrance Rendez-Vous event in Paris, on Thursday night.
The studio hopes to make a festival debut similar to Gilles Lellouche’s unconventional romantic comedy Beating Hearts, starring Francois civil and Adele Exarchopoulos. It also premiered at the Unifrance Regional Drama Festival last year.
The film premiered at Cannes, and since then has drawn in five million viewers. It will be released internationally from now on.
The company had a successful year, topped by Gilles de Maistre’s Autumn and the Black Jaguar which, according to the company, grossed around $30M in international sales. Michel Hazanavicius’s The Most Precious Of Cargoes also drew over 550,000 viewers at home and has just begun its international release campaign.
The event featured trailers of Cedric Klapisch’s Colours of Time. In this film, a group of distant cousins from today are brought together to learn more about a female ancestor, who lived in 1895 Paris, a bustling city that was also the birthplace of photography and Impressionism.
The highlight of the show was a teaser trailer for the female-led action film Coka Chica. It tells the story of three friends from Paris suburbs, who end up on the wrong side the law. They also encounter a drug ring in the Caribbean.
Studiocanal’s domestic distribution arm, Studiocanal France, is preparing to release twelve French productions this year in France, including Mourad’s Love Is Overrated and Ali Bougheraba’s Off To India. Cedric James’ high-end sci-fi Chien 51, a big-budget, high-end film, will be released at the end of 2018.
