SolarEdge’s Latest Residential Solar Battery is a Major Upgrade from Its Previous Model
SolarEdge, best known for their solar inverters and DC Power Optimizers, has also dabbled into the home batteries space with a steadily increasing market share. The company has announced a new battery that is more powerful, which will be revealed at 2024’s Re+ in Anaheim. This new battery features a powerful inverter and a modular, flexible design. The company also claims that installation and commissioning time will be reduced. You can install four battery systems in one place, with capacities ranging from 4.4 kWh to 17.6 kWh. This new battery system, like the one we loved before, uses SolarEdge’s DC-coupled technology. This reduces the amount of energy lost by your system when it converts between AC and DC power. The battery will not be available until the next year. Pricing and warranty information have yet to come out.
Here’s what you need to know about SolarEdge’s new solar battery.
What can you expect from SolarEdge’s new battery?
SolarEdge’s newest battery features a modular design, something the company’s previous battery model was lacking. Modular battery designs provide flexibility in battery capacity. You’ll be able to select from a variety of energy storage capacities, rather than just one. Modular designs allow you to upgrade the energy storage capacity of your battery without having to buy another huge battery. The battery’s modular system is like a set of building blocks. It consists of small modules, each 4.4 kWh in size, that are connected to one single system. Up to four 4.4-kWh modules can be installed in a single battery system for a total energy storage capacity of 17.6kWh. If you need additional capacity, you can install up to four battery systems per site for a total energy storage capacity of 70.6 kWh.
SolarEdge’s new battery also gets a major upgrade in the power department. SolarEdge’s new battery system comes with an inverter of 11.5 kW, which doubles the power output compared to the previous model. It also matches the power of the Tesla Powerwall 3! The entire battery system supports up to three inverters. The entire battery system supports up to three inverters.
