Marc Jacobs Fall 2024 Collection Review

Marc Jacobs unveiled his Fall 2024 collection last night in New York, within the city’s historic Public Library. The celebrated American designer doubled down on the doll-like silhouettes he presented for the Spring 2024 season, but this time with a nod to his childhood inspirations (including everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Minnie Mouse). The joyful lineup was filled with oversized-printed gowns, sequined dresses, bikinis that played with proportion, vivid funky colors and a nod to the 1950s. “We use fashion to embrace bold and courageous self-expression to articulate and showcase our inner selves, allowing us to freely explore and display our thoughts, desires, and identities in a deeper pursuit of joy, beauty, and personal transformation,” shared Jacobs ahead of the show. Models donned larger-than-life lashes, and sported shoes of extreme proportions as the likes of Cardi B sat front row and watched in awe.

“Stunning. Just stunning!” [helmutnotdead]

“Marc Jacobs is having the time of his life and I love that for him.” [ecnerretneerg]

“I love the irony of Marc Jacobs putting Alex Wek (previous Chanel bride) carrying a matelasse bag (Chanel coded) amidst rumors of him taking over the house.” [Ihhbl]

“So this is the man that would be perfect for Chanel? With those cardboard cartoon clothes?” [Alquimista]

“Some of the silhouettes are reminding me of the Loewe Polly Pocket dresses. Anyone else? It’s kind of a pity the clothes weren’t shown in a better venue.” [rowjellies]

“I love that it seems like Marc Jacobs is designing what he wants, showing when and how he wants to… I just wish he what he was designing was good.” [VogueDisciple93]

“I hate the strategy behind his current collection business and the results it yields. There are clothes designed for social media, bringing together the worst of Rei Kawakubo and Miuccia Prada in one result. On top of that, I feel the success of his business is more and more relying on his extravagant persona.” [tricotineacetat]
