Lorne Michaels gets shout-out as he joins Curtain Call
SNL50 was not a normal episode but it did end the same way as every Saturday Night Live for the past 50 years, with a curtain. This time it was supersized with representatives from five decades of SNL casts and musical guests crammed onto the stage of Studio 8H.
Martin Short, a former cast member who has been a host five times, took over the emcee role. He acknowledged original cast members Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin Garrett Morris, and Laraine Newman, while Curtin and Newman held up a picture of their late colleague Gilda Radiner.

Martin praised the group for “paving the way”, with Dan Aykroyd, another OG, conspicuously absent from the celebrations.
Short pointed to Michaels, who was also standing on the stage.
