‘Lilo & Stitch’ Director “Tried” To Have Pleakley Wear Dress
Fans of the original Lilo and Stitch have some questions as Disney brings the live-action treatment to Lilo & Sitch more than 20 year later.
Dean Fleischer Camp responded recently to fans who asked why the alien does not wear a dress in the upcoming remake. The film premieres on May 23. In the animated version, the extraterrestrial wore some gender-bending disguises.
People have asked me why Pleakley is not wearing a dress. Camp responded to comments made on TikTok. “And I want to say that I tried…I tried.”

The first live-action video was released in March. It featured Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley, and Zach Galifianakis, who played Dr. Jumbajookiba (the creator of Stitch). The animated versions of the characters, voiced by Kevin McDonald (voice of Stitch) and David Ogden Stiers (voice of Stitch), wore human clothing to blend in. Their live-action counterparts, however, appear to be using a device to give them the appearance that they are humans.
The movie has also posted the best first-day ticket presales for a PG title year to date, tracking to make $120 million over the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend. The film has also had the best-ever first-day presales of a PG-rated title, with a projected $120 million in sales over the Memorial Day weekend.
