Liam Gallagher’s Reaction To ‘SNL’ Making Fun Of The Oasis Brothers Feud
Today will be the day Liam Gallagher throws it back to Saturday Night Live.
One-half of Oasis’ brothers responded to a spoof SNL episode on “Weekend Update” featuring Sarah Sherman playing him and James Austin Johnson portraying his brother Noel Gallagher.
The musician asked, “Are these comedians?” Sherman responded with a quote by writing “Legend! !!!!!! “, referring to the heavy use of the word in the skit.
The segment, which was introduced by Colin Jost featured the two famously feuding siblings, who couldn’t agree on anything except their favorite cartoons and Sex and the City boys. Their feud began when Noel Gallagher, played by Johnson, made fun of Liam Gallagher (played by Sherman), who had a “crooked nose” and was “bent like Beckham” before the Spice Girls at Wembley Stadium in 1993.
The two actors play-fight and stick their tongues at each other throughout the three-minute sketch. Johnson sings that they may go on tour if Liam does not act like a child.
Jost stated, “Listen, your tour must work because I have already purchased tickets and I am about to mosh so hard that I will win the White Boy of the year Award.”
The rumours of an Oasis reuniting began in the late summer of last year. This was after a 15-year break following a physical altercation in 2009 between the brothers, leading to Noel Gallagher leaving the group. The feud between Liam Gallagher, who is the frontman of Oasis, and guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher has been well documented. They have insulted each other in the media for many years.
Oasis was formed in 1991 and pioneered the “Britpop” era. Their first album, Definitely Maybe, became the fastest-selling debut album of all time. They are still popular with 21 million Spotify listers, and Ticketmaster is experiencing a slew issues due to the surge in concert ticket demand.
The group announced last month that they would be bringing their Oasis Tour to North America.
