. Josh worked at Reddit and Pinterest before Wordle became a global sensation.
The game’s title is a play on Josh’s last name. Josh told The Verge that he originally considered calling the title “Mr. “This is true, I was originally going to call Wordle Mr. Bugs’ Wordy Nugz,” Josh revealed during a presentation on stage. “Had I called the game Mr. Bugs, I like to think it would not have been successful.”
While developing the prototype for Wordle, Josh only showed it to close friends and family.
“I was trying to do something that was authentic to me. Josh explained to The Verge that he was building something for someone he loved. The Verge reported that Josh advised other innovators not to copy his invention. He suggested that they focus on what they are passionate about and that’s meaningful to them. “And then everything else will follow from that.”
