‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Premiere Ratings Solid
The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage are all still in the running for most-watched program of broadcast on Thursday night.
Nielsen data shows that the Young Sheldon spinoff premiered with 6.563 millions total viewers on October 17, in the slot Thursday at 8 pm previously occupied BBT and Young Sheldon.
Matlock, CBS’s top-rated new series of the season, was also the highest rated broadcast show of the night. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was also the second-most watched new series premiere (L+SD), behind Matlock.
The legal drama, starring Kathy Bates, attracted 6.383M people in its time-period premiere. This was down 18% compared to the 7.73M viewers (L+SD), who watched the “sneak peek” on September 22, behind a 60 Minutes boosted by the NFL. However, it is still a good number that only Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage could beat last night.
Elsbeth, CBS’s 10 PM program, pulled in 7.761M viewers, up 4% from its series debut last season. CBS had the four most watched programs of the night, with Elsbeth pulling 7.761M at 10 PM, up 4% from its series debut last season.

The L+SD viewing for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is above the viewership of CBS’ NCIS and FBI franchise which premiered earlier this week and NBC’s One Chicago. This means that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will be the most-watched entertainment program from Monday to Friday (with Matlock a very close second).
The premiere of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage in the fall was lower than the previous year’s premiere (7.991M), which had been boosted by Netflix and Season 7, the final season. The sequel’s debut was comparable to the Season 6 premiere (6.879M).
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, a Warner Bros TV production, follows Georgie and Mandy as they raise a young family in Texas, while navigating adulthood, parenting, and marriage. Rachel Bay Jones is also in the cast, along with Will Sasso and Dougie Baldwin. Executive producers are Chuck Lorre Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, the creators of the series. Mark Cendrowski executive produced and directed the first episode.
