DNC Targets Black Voters with Celebrities’ Get Out The Vote Radio Spots
Kerry Washington, LeToya Lukett-Coles John Legend, and Stevie Wonder recorded radio spots to promote a new campaign by the Democratic National Committee that encourages Black voters in particular to vote.
The I Will Vote advertisements will also be featured in 55 Black magazines. They are part of a seven figure campaign.
Washington tells her audience that “your vote is your voice and your voice is power.” It’s time to let your voice be heard and get involved if we want our communities to make progress. If you want a better economy for us all, you can lower your cost of living. You can elect a president who puts our communities and us first.
The DNC has also partnered with BET We Vote to organize an HBCU homecoming tour, which will include engagements at Spelman College as well as Morehouse College this weekend for Spelhouse’s Homecoming.
DNC chair Jaime Harrison stated in a press release that “this investment shows Democrats’ unwavering dedication to reaching Black Voters where they are, through the platforms they use – and familiar Black voices on the airwaves to reach them – in order to ensure they have all the resources they require to cast their vote in the most significant election of our lives.”
