What is Banana Bread?

Banana Bread is a quick bread made from mashed bananas mixed with eggs, flour, sugar, butter, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Banana bread is also considered to be a sweet bread with nuts or raisins mixed into the ingredients to enhance the flavor.

The origin of Banana Bread can be traced back to the early 20th century, a period when baking soda and baking powder became common household items. During the Great Depression, resourceful home cooks didn’t want to waste overripe bananas, so they started baking them into bread.

How to make Banana Bread

Preheat the oven to 350° F and grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan. I like to use my cast iron loaf pan for this bread because it heats evenly and gives it a nice, golden brown crust.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed banana with the melted butter.
