Clariss Rubenstein, Leighton Meester’s hairstylist, says the actress is ‘open’ to changing her looks.
Treat your hair well! Celebrity hairstylist Clariss Anya Rubenstein has created gorgeous styles for Leighton Meester including baby bangs and elegant updos. She also creates flowy waves and loose ponytails. Now she tells ET about her creative process. “Leighton Meester is a dream to work with. Since we’ve been working together for many years, there is trust. She’s very open about her hair, and has many ideas. But she is also open to changing it. Working together is easy and enjoyable. … She can pull off anything,” the Nexxus stylist explains.

Rubenstein’s recent go-to look: “I’m loving pixie cuts on the red carpet. It’s feminine, chic, and bold. I encourage my clients not to be afraid to take risks but not to the extent that they are uncomfortable or don’t feel like themselves. Any look that makes them feel uncomfortable or self-conscious is not something I’m willing to do ever,” the hair expert adds.
Regardless of your mane preferences, Rubenstein believes that having luscious locks is what’s most important.
“Unhealthy hair never looks good. … Don’t over wash, under condition, or brush wet hair without a detangler in it, or you’re asking for breakage,” she spills.
Instead? Mask, deep condition, apply a treatment and repeat regularly. Use the

for adding texture, creating a sleek appearance, or taming flyaways. I use this product on every client, and also keep one in my bag for myself. It’s the perfect hairspray for a blowout, updo or comb-through. She says that she loves Parlux blow-dryers, GHD Chronas for straight or waves, Babyliss Mini Flatirons for edges and T3 Long-Barrel Curling Irons. As far as brushes go, I use Ibiza for round boar bristle, Olivia Garden for ceramic, Sheila Stotts or Yves Durif for detangling, and Mason Pearson for smoothing,” she continues.
