Christian Dior Cruise 2025 Collection Review

After almost 70 years, the house of Christian Dior returned to Scotland last night for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Cruise 2025 collection. Following in the footsteps of Monsieur Dior who staged a fashion show in 1955 at the luxurious Gleneagles Hotel, the French fashion house’s current creative director staged her latest collection within the picturesque grounds of the historic Drummond Castle, situated in Perthshire. Archival photographs from the 1955 showcase were ultimately reproduced as prints on tops and coats throughout MGC’s latest lineup, while Scotland’s iconic Harris Tweed was unsurprisingly at the forefront of a number of looks. Maria Grazia Chiuri looked to Mary, Queen of Scots and her rebellious spirit for inspiration, resulting in puffball gowns crafted from rich black velvet and adorned with heavy embroidery detailing.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“One of the worst collections I have ever seen. Burn everything.” [WAVES]

“This is really awful. Tell me that Tartan is a joke. Painfully boring clothes one after the other as always with this slowly-dying brand.” [Abracai]

“Looks like a Sarah Burton Alexander McQueen collection.” [lookatme]

“Sarah Burton for H&M.” [Kite]

“I see a lot of Sarah Burton-isms but in a cheap way. The location was gorgeous but please, PLEASE let’s stop this these infinite runways. They are so boring and painful to watch!” [Carla55]

“Maria Grazia is here to collect her LVMH pay check and that is all. Just like the rest of her team. Nobody there is passionate about the Dior legacy or history and it’s clear. What I don’t understand is how nobody in the team thought to maybe tone down the Sarah-Burton-McQueen vibe? I mean the styling, down to the braids and the dresses worn with combat boots, was a carbon copy of Burton’s aesthetic.” [Frederic01]

“How is it possible to have such a boring show at such a stunning location?” [Urban Stylin]

“Believe it or not, it’s one of the least boring collections I’ve seen from her in a while ! But these fashion houses are getting so annoying. They put out so many sub par collections in such a short span these days. They need to calm down.” [imjustken]
