The Best Blow Dry Brushes for 2025

Blow dry brushes have transformed my life. It’s probably a bit extreme, but I have been searching for this since I was an adolescent. My fine hair has been a problem for many years. It is naturally curly, but the waves can be easily destroyed by a toddler or a night’s sleep. My hair felt flat and fried after using a straightener, while I was unable to control a blow-dryer with any dexterity. But lucky for me, the solution was out there: a blow-dry brush.

Blow-dry brushes, also called blow-dryer brushes and blowout brushes, combine a hairbrush and a blow dryer into one, funneling air out the sides and letting you style your hair with the brush and dry it at the same time. The results are often fluffier than when using a hairbrush and blow dryer, which can sometimes lead to more frizz. However, it is much easier to handle than two devices. It was amazing to have smooth, voluminous, and bouncy hair the next morning (or even after wrestling with my child), without having to use three tools or develop shoulder mobility. To help you feel the same satisfaction I get after a blowout I have been testing blow-dry brush for the last six months. After my testing, I found two favorites: the

Drybar Dual-Shot ($155), and the T3 AireBrush round ($160). The Drybar’s oval shape gives you a smooth, beautiful blowout, while the T3 has a round shape that is great for adding curls to your blowout, shorter hair or bangs. You’ll be tempted to use a blow-dry brush while your hair is sopping wet, but it’s best to wait until your hair is mostly dry. Alanna Safarik Ashby, hair stylist and co owner of Ivy & Luna Studio, Carlsbad in California, advises that you wait until your hair has reached 90 percent drying to protect it. She says that wet hair is the most fragile. “Think about when you pull cooked spaghetti. You’re right, it’s very elastic and breakable. The same applies to wet hair. So the more dry, the better.”

Similarly to other styling tools, it’s best to section your hair into three or four sections to use your blow-dry brush to style it. You’ll blow-dry each section one at a time. Start at the roots and work your way up to the roots. To create volume and dry hair completely, I repeat this process at least twice on each side. Julie Chung, the co-founder at T3, shared another tip to get the most volume from your blowout. “For an extra lift, hold the brush underneath the roots for 2 to 3 seconds,” she said. You’ll need to experiment to find out what works for you. I flip the ends of my shoulder-length locks. Whether you choose an oval or round-shaped brush can influence how this works as well.

You might have seen two different kinds of brushes that promise blowout results. The term

blow dry brush

in this guide is used exclusively for devices that use hot air to blow out the bristles and onto wet hair. Infrared brushes are used for devices that style dry hair using infrared heat, instead of hot air. Infrared brushes can only be used on dry hair. Blow-dry brush are meant only for wet hair. Below you can find out more about infrared brush and the ones I recommend.
