Here’s what happened when For Good was just screened
The first trailer for the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good was shown at CinemaCon in the past two years. Now, the final and second film is on its way, Universal had to do it again. Director Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt, and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were all on hand to debut the first footage from the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good, and while it’s not yet online, here’s what happened.
Glass breaks on what appears to be a brand new apartment. Glinda lives in Emerald City. She goes out to her massive balcony and says, “Elphaba Thropp, I know you’re out here, come in before the monkeys see you.” The camera circles her twice and then, boom, Elphaba is there.
Elphaba has set up a home for herself somewhere in the woods. She looks at the propaganda about her. Monkeys fly in Oz. Glinda is given a huge crown. Madame Morrible tells us that the witch is going to be caught very soon now that Fiyero, Prince Fiyero’s squad and other soldiers are on her trail. Fiyero is riding his horse in uniform through the woods with many soldiers following him. The streets of Emerald City are filled with people holding torches. Glinda returns to the tower from the end of the first film and walks up the stairs.
Glinda and Elphaba are sitting together on a swing discussing all the good they can do together. Fiyero stands on an altar after a shot that shows Glinda wearing a flowing, long pink gown in a large church-like setting. A scene appears to show Glinda and Elphaba in the Wizard’s large room. There are flashing lights and it looks as if they are dancing. The Wizard is there. Fiyero points a gun towards Elphaba. He is still by her side.
Elphaba says to Glinda, “You are the only friend I have ever had.” Glinda replies, “And I’ve always had many friends.” The two hug each other and cry. Elphaba raises her right arm to pull her hat into place. She raises her left arm to draw her broom. It was an interesting trailer with many cool moments.
