Jon Gries Return To “The White Lotus” Season 3: What To know

SPOILER ALERT: This piece discusses plot points from the first two episode of The White Lotus.

Many assumed, up until the third season of The White Lotus that the format for each island was a result of a connecting character from an earlier season. Jennifer Coolidge played Tanya McQuoid in two seasons back-to-back, first as a woman grieving for her mother, and then as a newlywed who was adventurous.
Natasha Rothwell played Belinda Lindsey, who befriended Tanya during Season 1. Rothwell did not participate in Season 2, but she brought Belinda to Thailand in full force for Season 3. Rothwell told Deadline that Belinda will be navigating between being a hotel guest this season and an employee, while also learning from the latter group to expand her career knowledge.

The character of Greg played by Jon Gries in the first season of ‘The White Lotus (Hawaii),’ was something nobody expected.
Gries’s return in the Season 3 premiere, introduced to Aimee Louis Wood’s Chelsea (Charlotte Le Bon) by his new love interest Chloe, adds another layer to this Thailand-set episode. Tanya and Greg first met in Season 1. Tanya then abandoned her plans to assist Belinda with her spa when Belinda offered her a soothing massage in Season 1 while Tanya was mourning the loss of her mother. She ran away with Greg instead and married him.
Greg’s return in a sense brings back that friendship or budding romance between Belinda & Tanya even though McQuoid was killed at the end Season 2 trying to escape from a hit ordered by Quentin(Tom Hollander). The White Lotus Season 2 final revealed that Greg was conning Tanya. He had originally insisted they take their Sicilian vacation alone and expressed disappointment when Tanya brought her assistant Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), but then he left in the middle of their stay at the hotel.

In Episode 7 of Season 2 titled “Arrivederci,” Tanya confronted Quentin over what she suspected might have been an old romantic relationship between Quentin and Greg. She confirmed that she had a hunch the two were in love and that her fall from the yacht was a sign that they wanted to kill her. Tanya had signed a prenup before she married Greg. However, Quentin’s departure midway through their Italian trip provided him with an alibi that allowed him to kill Tanya without Greg being directly blamed.

His return in the third season will hopefully answer some questions following that explosive ending for Tanya, such as whether or not he ended up with her money and also what he is aiming to get out of his now girlfriend Chloe.

In episode 2, viewers learn that Greg is now known as Gary. Though Walton Goggins, Rick Hatchett, questions his former occupation, Gary/Greg only teases “a little of this and that” in future episodes.
Greg may not be the white, bald man Chloe thinks he is. He could also be something more sinister, especially if you look at his past.

She asked him if they had met before and then if he dated a woman named Tanya McQuoid. First she asked him if they had met before and then if he dated a woman named Tanya McQuoid.

Chloe had told Chelsea, by the pool, that Gary’s former wife committed suicide and was a “real mental patient” but Chloe did not name her. Her death story involved her walking in the ocean, and the only thing the search party found was a piece of her leg.
