Tim Cook teases new Apple Air products coming very soon

Apple CEO Tim Cook told fans in a post to X that there is “something in the air”–and it’s probably the next MacBook Air. Apple CEO Tim Cook told fans in a post on X that there was “something” in the air–and we believe it is the next MacBook Air. Apple released the M3 MacBook Air 15 and 13 last March. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has hinted in recent reports that we will see the MacBook Air revealed soon. Gurman said in his newsletter that Apple could release the MacBook Air this week.

Apple may have more Airs in store. Gurman was the first to notice that Apple is reducing its iPad Air inventory. This could mean we’ll be getting new iPad Airs, with upgraded chips as opposed to last year’s 11- and 13.2-inch versions with M2 silicon. Don’t expect the iPhone 17 Air. Apple’s release calendar suggests that the thin mobile device will not be available until later in this year. Apple has maintained the squared, flat MacBook design since the M2 MacBook Air. Recent benchmark leaks suggest Apple will keep the M4 chip across both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, though likely with less graphical prowess on the shorter machine, like it was on the M3. Recent benchmark leaks indicate that Apple will use the same M4 chip across the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. However, it may have less graphics power on the smaller machine. This was the case with the M3. Apple announced the new $600 iPhone 6 days later. Apple could reveal the MacBook Air later this week. However, we do not know if its launch will be as airy and light as Apple’s last “budget” phone.
