Harry, a Below Deck Down Under employee, nearly loses his thumb in a gruesome accident
“I was pulling the jetski and I clipped on the cradle,” he recalled, “and then, a wave came and this finger, that thumb was between the cradle, and the jetski. It was crushed. “
As for the medic’s diagnosis, the injury was indeed very series–and potentially season-ending.
“You don’t have a fingernail. Harry was told by the medic that water can cause infection in staff. I’m trying to cover this, but please be careful when using it. If you don’t feel better, or if the pain persists, and you are unable to move, I recommend an X-ray for any fracture. Harry complained about the throbbing pain in his finger despite taking medication. Harry’s crew members were also concerned about the impact of Harry’s condition on his job.
As Wihan Du Toit
, Deckhand , admitted in a confessional: “I am quite worried about Harry.” He is in pain. The deck team will be affected by this massively. Harry was unable to complete the charter because even simple tasks like changing clothes or carrying deck chairs were difficult. After a night of sleepless pain, Harry decided to go to the mainland the next morning to have it checked at a local hospital.
