Sigourney weaver teases her mystery Mandalorian & Grogu role
Lucasfilm has been very careful not to reveal too many details about The Mandalorian & Grogu. It’s the first major Star Wars theatrical movie it’s released in years. In a GamesRadar article, Sigourney revealed some intriguing details about her role in the Star Wars universe. In her words, she’s playing a “wonderful character in a position of authority.” She didn’t offer a name or more details, but she indicated her character may help kick off the film’s plot: “I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens.” Much like in the show, her meeting with Din Djarin will be face-to-face, which means her character will share the screen with Grogu, which she admitted was “probably why I did the movie.” Having admired Star Wars for years, joining the franchise via a spinoff movie of the show she’s a “great fan” of was a dream come true.
Throughout Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, we’ve seen Grogu gradually come into his own Force power, and it sounds like the movie’s going to pay that off in some big ways. Weaver called him a “little badass” and teased that fans would be happy to see him become more than just a cute baby. She said that it would be great for fans to see Grogu in action. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22nd, 2026. If you want more Sigourney Weaver news, check out The Gorge on Apple TV+, on February 14th. Want more io9 news?
