L’Oreal Professionnel AirLight Pro review: faster, lighter, and repairable

AirLight works with iOS 13.1 and up (including iPads), Android Oreo 8.0 and above, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. It has 12 presets for four modes: Standard (standard), Sleek (sleek), Curly and Coily. Each preset can be adjusted and saved for future usage. A fully customizable mode is also available. The app also has a usage tracker that logs the time you have used the dryer. The app is still in its infancy, but works well. It has plenty of room to be updated. I can’t stop imagining how much more useful it would be with features such as heat-styling advice from professionals, video tutorials or curated inspiration boards. L’Oreal is laying the foundation for future improvements. I’m interested to see what they do. L’Oreal says the AirLight Pro’s engine can last up to 10 year of professional use, which is about two hours per day, five times a week. For anyone who’s dealt with cheap hair dryers that barely last a season, this alone is a promising proposition.

What really sets the AirLight Pro apart, though, is its repairability. L’Oreal will begin offering spare parts in early 2025. AirLight Pro has a built-in alert system that will notify you when the filter needs to be cleaned. The frequency of cleaning depends on the air quality, dust and other particles, such as hairspray. The dryer will shut off if the filter is in critical condition. This prevents motor damage. The AirLight Pro costs $475. It’s $45 less than the Dyson SuperSonic, but it has many advantages. For example, it is quieter, faster, and can be customized with an app. You can also repair it after the warranty expires if you break it. When I spend nearly $500 on a new hair dryer, I only want to do it once. AirLight Pro is worth the tailored experience.
