Please Read This Note from Our New Executive Director

This piece was first published in The Fallout, our weekly newsletter. I am Mallory Johns and I am thrilled to be the new executive director for Rewire News Group. You usually hear from Jess Pieklo who is always keeping you informed, inspiring, and sometimes riled up. It’s an honor to be able to share my excitement about joining this team and say hello in this space. It’s a great honor to step into this position at such an important time for our country and for Rewire. In this time of crisis, I cannot think of any mission or team more important to support. Rewire News Group is a beacon for truth in a world where misinformation and political noise threaten public trust and understanding. As someone who has a passion for reproductive equality and justice, I am inspired by the amazing work that this team produces every day. Rewire’s work, from groundbreaking investigations to sharply witted commentary is the foundation for critical conversations about the futures of our democracy, healthcare systems and human rights. My career has focused on audience engagement and digital innovation, and I am excited to apply that knowledge to Rewire. I want to be the stable presence that this complex media environment demands, as well as the creative force behind a bold and transformative vision. Together with this extraordinary team, I’m confident that we can expand Rewire’s reach, amplify our impact, and ensure that we remain the trusted voice people turn to for accurate, uncompromising journalism.

The road ahead won’t be easy. The media’s coverage of reproductive rights, justice, and health is facing many challenges. I do, however, believe in the power of the information to bring about change as well as the passion and resilience in this community. Rewire News Group’s work is essential. It’s the lifeline of truth and justice at a time when they are both under attack. I’m looking forward to our journey together and the amazing work we will do.
