Jaguar’s electric revolution takes center stage with the debut of the Type 00 Concept, a striking showcase of the brand’s artistic and technological ambitions. The Type 00 concept car, which premiered at Miami Art Week in February 2013, is more than just a vehicle. It’s a reflection of Jaguar’s evolution as a brand. The Type 00 concept car blends vibrant colors, geometric sophistication, and minimalistic cues. It draws from the rich history of the brand while looking to the future. The front is adorned with razor-thin light elements and a rectangular grille that has been embossed in the body. The bold vertical panels that run behind the front fenders are a classic nod, and brass ingots hold rear-facing cameras. Eschewing a traditional rear window, Jaguar introduces a “pantograph tailgate,” an innovative solution that emphasizes form and function.
Access to the vehicle is equally dramatic, thanks to butterfly doors that provide a grand entrance to the front seats. At the rear, a rectangular grille-like structure integrates full-width taillights, creating a cohesive yet daring design language.
Inside, the Type 00 is a celebration of minimalism and material innovation. The flat front seats are divided by a brass spine, and two screens rise out of the dash to replace traditional controls and instruments. Materials are just as bold as the design: a wool-blend inspired by handwoven yarns, and structural elements made from travertine. The Type 00 concept uses Jaguar’s new JEA Architecture, which is tailored for electric vehicles. Promising an EPA-estimated range of 430 miles and rapid charging capabilities of up to 200 miles in just 15 minutes, the platform underscores Jaguar’s commitment to EV performance.
Though the production model inspired by the Type 00 won’t arrive until late 2025, spy shots suggest a sleek four-door GT silhouette. Jaguar’s reimagined lineup of electric vehicles aims to rekindle that sense of awe inspired by iconic models like the E-Type. As CEO Adrian Mardell says: “We will recreate the same feeling of awe surrounding iconic models.” This electrifying preview shows that Jaguar isn’t just following trends, but also redefining them as the brand enters a new era.
