Dolph Lundgren, the actor of ‘Rocky IV,’ says he’s “finally cancer free”
Dolph Lundgren shared some good news about his health. The Rocky IV actor revealed on Instagram, nine years after being diagnosed as terminally ill with cancer, that he is “finally cancer-free.”
“Health Update – Finally cancer free, with gratitude and excitement for the bright future. Thank you for your continued support. Lungren captioned the photo he posted on Instagram.
“Here I am in UCLA. The last tumor is about to be removed. “I’m excited to have this procedure because I know I won’t be cancerous anymore since there are no cancerous cells left in my body,” said Lundgren on his Instagram.
He added, “It has been a tough ride that taught me to enjoy each moment and live in the present.” It’s the only thing to do.”
Lundgren revealed his cancer for the first time in 2023 on the syndicated interview show In Depth with Graham Bensinger. He revealed that he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer for the first time in 2015. He was symptom-free after surgery for five years, but a doctor’s visit in Sweden in 2020 revealed that he had additional tumors on his kidney and liver.
The actor revealed that he received a terminal cancer diagnosis at this point and was only given 2-3 years to survive. He said that at the moment he thought “I’ve lived a great lifetime.” I’ve lived five lives in one. It wasn’t that I was bitter, but I felt sorry not only for my children but also my fiance.”
Lundgren was then prescribed a newer, more effective treatment by Dr. Alexandra Drakaki at UCLA Medical Center. Lundgren reported that the treatment he received while filming The Expendables 4 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom had been effective in reducing the size the tumors by 90 percent.
Deadline reported exclusively in May that Lundgren, along with Michael Jai White and Charlotte Kirk from The Dark Knight (The Reckoning), had been cast as the main characters of Fight Or Flight. Shane Dax Taylor will direct.
