Lidl announced their plans to stock the Too Good to Waste fruit and veg boxes back in 2018, but now sell them across all Lidl stores.

What do you get in a box?

You’re going to get a fair bit of veg and fruit in their ‘Waste Not’ boxes!

You’ll get a selection of 5kg of fruit and vegetables.

The contents will likely change every single time, and they are being made by Lidl’s “Freshness Specialists”.

Lidl wants to encourage people to purchase fruit and veg that may have been left on the shelf before so less goes to waste.

When buying these boxes, you need to be aware that the fruit and veg will not last as long as other veg bought directly from their shelves. Some of the fruit and veg may be slightly damaged, discoloured or deteriorated, but it’s all perfectly good to eat.

Yes, you will save money, but if you won’t use it before it gets too limp (or you can feed it to your bunny), then you will still be wasting food and your cash.

You need to be quick though!

These boxes aren’t going to be on the shelves for long.

The whole idea is to use up the fruit and prevent food waste.

The Too Good to Waste boxes of fruit and veg will go on sale in store first thing each morning (if there is suitable stock).

They will be available for the first two hours of trading and, if they’re not sold, will be donated to local causes via Lidl’s “Feed it Back” food redistribution programme.
