, a film producer and CEO of the production company Prettybird. Cole graduated from Colorado College in 2017 with a psychology degree. Cole worked as an assistant for William Morris Endeavor after graduating. According to LinkedIn, Cole has worked as an executive assistant for Plan B Entertainment since November 2019. The company’s offices are located in Los Angeles.
Cole told Glamour that the relationship between Harris and Cole, as well as Ella, began slowly. Cole said he was initially “a little surprised” to learn that his father, the former California Attorney General Harris was dating Cole. Doug was saying, “I met this lady. She’s cool. Doug had not talked about his love life in a very long time. I said “Okay, cool. Whatever.” He replied, “I think you should know that she’s the Attorney General of California.” Cole, then a senior high school student, was about to leave for college. “I believe for all of us it was love at the first sight. The Reel Inn is one of my favourite restaurants. We spent a wonderful evening there. We shared music on a long trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. I first got to know her on a more personal level — her music tastes, cooking, and how she interacted with Doug. He would say that she was ribbing Doug. It was perfect,” he gushed of his stepmother.[Tony Avelar/AP/Shutterstock]Ella Emhoff
Ella Emhoff at an event with her family .Ella Emhoff is Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff’s second child and daughter, whom he also shares with Kerstin Emhoff. Ella Emhoff was born on May 29, 1999. She is 21 years old. She is currently enrolled at Parsons School of Design, New York City. In January 2021 she was signed by IMG Models. Ella quickly established herself as a stylish member of the Second Family. She became a viral sensation after wearing a gorgeous Miu Miu coat to Vice President Harris and President Biden’s inauguration. The 21-year old is a supportive daughter who shares a special relationship with her stepmother.
Ella told Glamour, in October 2020, that she was “in an equally intense period” when they met. But for different reasons. It felt serious to me when he talked about her. I could even hear it in his tone. It was so easy to meet that it didn’t feel like a big deal. I felt as if we’d known each other for years. And I think what was important was getting to know her as a person first–a person before a politician.”

As a young woman who is coming into her own, Ella has loved seeing her “momala” flourish in her new, historic role in the nation’s government. Ella said, “I think that it is long overdue to separate her family relationship from me.” It’s empowering to watch someone so confident in herself, and not to give up. It’s important that she is confident and assertive. She doesn’t consider that a weakness and is not afraid. I hope that seeing someone run for the highest office with Joe will encourage more women, especially women of colour, to run for it and hopefully reach the top. I think we needed someone like that to come along.”

How the Second Family Makes it Work

Those traditional Sunday dinners have evolved into something completely different. Family Zoom chats are now held every Sunday night in the Harris-Emhoff home to keep up with each other, share information, and ask about one another’s days. “It’s harder to be apart during COVID, because this all happens during that time. We talk a lot, we can Zoom and we have Zooms every weekend. Ella admitted to Glamour that it was not the same. While on the campaign trail, the Harris-Emhoff family would take pictures whenever they could. As you can see from the photo above, the family would take Instagram photos whenever they were able to gather. She makes it clear how much she loves her stepchildren by the way she talks about them. She prioritized their comfort and well-being from the start. “As the child of divorce myself, I understood how difficult it can be to see your parents dating other people. “Children need consistency,” she wrote in an essay for Elle. In an article for Elle, she wrote: “Children need consistency.” They are funny, brilliant and talented kids who have become remarkable adults. “Kerstin, the mother of Cole and Ella’s, is a fantastic mother. I knew Doug was a great guy, but it was Cole and Ella that hooked me.” Vice President Harris has a special relationship with both Cole and Ella. Kerstin is a dear friend of mine. We hit it off and became fast friends. We became cheerleaders at Ella’s basketball and swim meets, much to Ella’s embarrassment. She wrote, “We sometimes joke that our family is a bit too functional.” In an August 2020 address, she stated that “family is also everything to me.” She said, “I cannot wait for America get to know Doug, my husband, and our amazing children, Cole and Ella.” “I’ve held many titles in my career and ‘vice-president’ is one of them. “But ‘Momala,’ will always mean the most to me.”
