Boston’s 5 Best Hotels

Boston is a city that every traveler should visit. Its rich history, its wide open green spaces and its first-rate museum are all reasons to go. Although I’m biased because I grew up in Boston, I believe more people should come — especially foodies and history buffs. The city is full of things to do, whether you are strolling along the cobblestone streets on Beacon Hill or exploring the busy Seaport District. You can also enjoy the iconic views that line the Charles River. (Don’t forget the Freedom Trail!) Boston has many options for accommodation, catering to all types of travelers and budgets. Some of these hotels are better than other. Some should be avoided at all costs.

To assist you in finding the right hotel for your stay here is my list:

1. The Godfrey Hotel Boston

The Godfrey Hotel, a stylish boutique in the center of downtown, is an excellent choice. The fact that the hotel provides free bikes, helmets and locks is a great way to explore more of the city. There is also a fitness centre with Peloton bicycles. Breakfast is served in a cafe on site, which offers pastries, coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The restaurant at the hotel is also really good (a Peruvian Japanese Fusion place with a cool, modern interior and delicious cocktails). The hotel lobby bar offers a great option for a quick drink, and they even give you one free of charge. The rooms are minimalist and sleek, with comfortable beds and plush linens. They also have large windows that allow in plenty of natural light. There are blackout curtains to help you sleep well. The well-planned amenities are impressive, with a mini-fridge, 55″ Samsung TV, BOSE speakers and yoga mats. Bathrooms are also impressive with glass enclosed showers, luxury toiletries and soft robes. The central location, stylish design and excellent amenities make this a great choice for travelers who are looking for convenience and comfort in the center of the city.

2. Staypineapple Boston

This quirky, fun boutique hotel in Back Bay is just steps away from Boston Common. It’s also within walking distance to many of the top attractions of the city. The design of the hotel is vibrant and bold, with pineapple decor all over. It looks much better than it seems and gives a fun twist to a classic early 20th century building. The hotel offers a welcome drink for free at its bar/restaurant. In the afternoons you can enjoy free coffee, tea and light snacks. There is no breakfast on site, but there are many nearby breakfast options. The hotel also provides free bikes for you to use in the city. The rooms are small but very well designed, making efficient use of space. The rooms are colorful and bright, with pineapple accents and soft bedding. They also have thoughtful amenities such as Keurig coffee machines, fluffy robes and slippers. The reusable water bottles with filtered water are also a nice touch. You can either take them with you, or they will recycle them when you depart. The bathrooms have been completely renovated and feature glass enclosed showers, high-quality toiletries and large plush towels. This is an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers who are looking for a unique stay in a great location. This is a great choice if you are traveling with your pet, as the hotel has dog-friendly facilities and rooms.

3. The Langham

An historic former Federal Reserve Bank is now a five-star luxury hotel. This hotel blends historical charm with modern luxury. The grand entranceway leads to a stunning lobby with marble accents and grand chandeliers. Grana is the hotel’s signature dining room, located in what was once a bank hall. It offers a variety of classic Italian and New-England cuisines (think lobster cannoli), as well as an extensive breakfast buffet, including everything from freshly-baked pastries to indulgent dishes like Florentine Benedict. The Fed cocktail bar is also fantastic. The Fed serves excellent cocktails and pub food, as well as free jazz every Friday. The hotel also has a 24-hour high-tech gym and a heated indoor pool, with sauna. The opulent, large rooms are decorated with lavish bedding, artwork by local artists, sleek furnishings, and plenty of windows to let in natural light. The room amenities include a Nespresso, a minibar with local products, a safe and a 50-inch flatscreen television. Bathrooms are spacious, beautifully designed and feature marble finishes and rainfall showers. Some rooms have deep soaking bathtubs. If you’re looking to spend, look no further!

4. Seaport Hotel Boston

Located right along the water, this four-star hotel is the perfect base for exploring the waterfront, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and nearby attractions like the Boston Children’s Museum. The hotel features a modern, sleek design, with lots of open space and natural light. It also has great amenities, including an 11,000 square foot 24/7 fitness center, with group classes and a heated indoor swimming pool. There are also three excellent restaurants on site. Seaport Cafe offers grab-and go breakfast options or you can sit down in Aura’s breakfast restaurant, which has a wide variety of tasty choices for every diet. Dinner is served at TAMO Bistro + Bar. The menu features local ingredients (including honey and herbs from the rooftop garden). Every room offers a beautiful view of either the city or harbor. They are spacious, comfortable and have pillow-top beds. There is also a pillow menu and weighted blankets available on request. The headboards have USB ports and reading lamps. Each room has a desk, Keurig coffee maker and a 55″ HDTV with streaming services. Mini-fridges are also provided, as well as laptop-sized safes. Bathrooms are spacious, with marble countertops, fog-free mirrors and quality bath products. Stay here if you’re looking to experience a part of the city that is not usually visited by tourists.

5. The Newbury Hotel Boston
This five-star landmark property is located on Newbury Street, directly across from Boston’s historic Public Garden. It is a masterpiece in classic elegance. The Newbury Hotel opened as the first Ritz-Carlton in 1927. It recently underwent a two-year renovation and reopened as The Newbury. It has a luxurious, moody atmosphere with its velvet furniture, vibrantly colored walls and custom artwork. The private library lounge is my favorite. The library lounge is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail and picking up a book from the shelves. Breakfast is best at Contessa’s stunning rooftop restaurant. It offers fine Italian-American cuisine (like carbonara scramble and panettone French Toast), but you can also enjoy classic eggs and pancakes at the Street Bar. The rooms are spacious, thoughtfully designed and feature custom-designed furniture, original illustrations and soft lighting to create a relaxing atmosphere. Each room has a plush queen or king bed with an expensive mattress. The headboard lighting, large desk and fully-stocked minibar are my favorites. The marble bathrooms feature glass-enclosed rain showers, bespoke products, and fluffy towels and robes. This place is a great choice for anyone looking to relax and enjoy upscale accommodations in Boston. The Back Bay is a great place to explore the high-end dining, shopping and cultural attractions.
