Congratulations are in order for Olivia Munn and John Mulaney as they expand their family!
On September 22, the actress, 44, and the comedian, 42, took to social media to share photos of their new baby girl, born via surrogate on September 14. They included images of themselves holding her in the hospital and capturing their first few days together.
“Mei June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon,” Munn captioned her Instagram post.
She expressed her complex and “profound” feelings about not being able to carry her daughter, sharing, “When I first met our gestational surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She was so gracious and understanding. I knew that I had found an angel. She explained that “Mei (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese Mei.” She said, “Mei” (pronounced may) is plum in Chinese Mei. They began dating in the year 2021 and recently married in a private ceremony in New York State. According to a source, the couple’s marriage license was signed by Malcolm and one witness. She posted her diagnosis to Instagram in an attempt to comfort others who are going through similar experiences. Munn revealed in an interview with Vogue that she had frozen her eggs three different times after her diagnosis – at ages 33 and 39 and 42. “When you are pregnant with your baby, it is like teamwork – both of you working together to bring their little lives to life,” she said. You have to trust the surrogate as much as you do to live her life as a woman pregnant in the same manner as you would.
