The 6 Best Hotels In Lisbon (Updated for 2024).
Portugal’s beautiful capital is my favorite city in the entire world. I love to wander its labyrinthine street, take in the breathtaking ocean views and drink endless amounts of wine. Lisbon, or Lisboa as it is known locally, offers a unique blend of museums and historic landmarks. It also has a vibrant nightlife scene, charming plazas and cozy cafés. The moment I arrived, I fell in love. It is also one of the most popular cities for digital nomads, with many expats. It’s no surprise, then, that Lisbon is a city with a lot of hotels (although not all are great). Here is a list of my favorite hotels in Lisbon to help you choose where to stay:
1. Portugal Boutique Hotel
I like how this four-star property strikes the perfect balance of old-world elegance with contemporary flair. The minimalist furniture contrasts with the historic architectural features of the building, such as arched stone doors, traditional Portuguese tiles, and hardwood flooring. The wood-paneled dining room is my favorite. Every morning, they offer a free breakfast that includes seasonal, fresh ingredients. The wine cellar is a must-see (you can even do a tasting), and you can get 24-hour room service if you need something in the middle the night. Staff are extremely helpful and provide a personalized service that makes it feel like a five star hotel. Rooms are also high-tech, with a TV smart built into the mirror. The bathrooms have tiled showers and are bright and modern. They also come with complimentary toiletries and plush slippers. The best place to stay is in Mouraria. It’s one of the oldest districts in Lisbon.

2. A Casa das Janelas com Vista
Translated as a “House of Windows with a View,” the name of this cozy bed and breakfast doesn’t lie: there are stunning views from most windows here. It’s a homey design with unique artwork and vintage furniture. I love that the included breakfast is served at a communal table, making it easy to meet fellow travelers (the breakfast is delicious too, featuring homemade cakes, fresh bread, croissants, and rotating Portuguese specialties).
Although this B&B is in lively Bairro Alto, it’s on a quiet street so you can still get a good sleep. The rooms, while small, are equipped with all the basic amenities like an air conditioner, a safe and TV (on demand). Some rooms have balconies and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The bathrooms have a lot of space, and they come with a rainfall shower. They also include some really nice toiletries. If you want to be centrally located but still have a more private stay than a hostel, this is the place for you.

3. Bairro Alto Hotel –
Located in Chiado, and housed in a 18th century building, this five star property combines Lisbon’s traditional style with sophisticated design. Think sleek, modern lines, complemented by traditional ceramic tiles and rich wood accents. Breakfast at the hotel is a feast of fresh fruits, artisanal cheeses and local pastries. There are also hot dishes such as eggs benedict. The rooftop bar has to be one of the best hotel bars around. There’s also a sauna and a fitness centre on site. The comfortable rooms have stylish furnishings and large windows with plenty of natural light. Each room is equipped with a Nespresso, bottled water fresh from the bottle, Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth speakers. There are also a minibar, safe, Bluetooth speakers, flatscreen TV, and a Nespresso. The bathrooms are also spacious and elegantly furnished with marble sinks and tiled floors. They feature luxurious amenities such as large walk-in rain showers, luxury toiletries and plush bathrobes. This is the perfect place to stay for those who want to spend a lot of money.

4. Hotel Alegria
This boutique three-star hotel is situated in a beautifully renovated building dating back to 1865. It’s so beautiful and elegantly decorated, with antique Portuguese furnishings. I love the historic feel. It’s also a great location: just a few blocks west of Avenida da Liberdade – a leafy shopping street. In the park opposite the hotel, there is a small kiosk where I like to get a drink while watching the world pass by. Breakfast is not included but it’s well worth it as there’s a great buffet with everything from omelets to fresh Portuguese pastries. The breakfast is served in a charming little room. The rooms are classy and cozy, with hardwood flooring, original artwork on the wall, antique furniture and chandeliers. The Portuguese tiles around the large windows, and the spacious bathrooms are my favorite. The amenities in the room include air conditioning, comfy bathrobes, slippers, Nespresso, flatscreen TVs, a safe and minibar. You get a great deal here. You’re still within walking distance of many major sights, even though the neighborhood is quiet.
5. Sao Vicente Alfama hotel
This 4-star hotel is located in the hilly medieval Alfama which I find to one of Europe’s charming neighborhoods. This chic boutique hotel is only 22 rooms and feels intimate and homey. Breakfast is included and includes a variety of Portuguese pastries and cold cuts as well as fresh fruits, omelets and French toast. All rooms are equipped with a desk, which is great for me to do some work before I go out and explore. Rooms are also high-tech, with keyless, electronic doors, USB plugs, wireless phone chargers and smart TVs. They even have Bluetooth-integrated sound system. Bathrooms are also luxurious, with walk-in-showers, high-quality products, cotton towels of premium quality, and comfortable bathrobes. I think this is the best place in Alfama to stay.

6. Corpo Santo Hotel –
This sleek five-star property is located in an 18th-century Portuguese building in Cais do Sodre, a microneighborhood. The hotel has a variety of amenities, such as a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. It also offers a breakfast that is second to none. There are a variety of pastries and local cheeses as well as eggs that can be cooked to your specifications. There are also many complimentary benefits, such as wine tastings each day in the hotel lobby, two daily walking tours, free snacks on all floors, and ice cream for everyone in the lobby. The spa offers a 20-minute free massage! Each room is unique, but they all feature a bright and minimalist design. They also have many amenities. Think of plush beds, Nespresso machines, electric kettles, complimentary minibars, digital safes, bathrobes and slippers, as well as 4K TVs. AC and soundproofed windows are also available for a comfortable experience. The bathrooms feature modern amenities such as heated floors, heated showers and high-end toiletries. They also have chromotherapy lights that can be changed to create different moods. Stay here if you want a place where you won’t want for anything.
