What is Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen?

Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen is not the same as Giovanni’s Table. Giovanni’s Table is a more family-oriented Italian restaurant on certain ships. Both are extra-fee Italian restaurants. Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar is located on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas. The kitchen is open for dinner every night and lunch on seadays. Reservations aren’t required, but they’re recommended.

The location of the wine bar on Utopia of the Seas deserves special mention. Not only is the wine bar housed inside the restaurant on that vessel, but the venue’s two-story setup also offers fabulous views over the ship’s Boardwalk neighborhood, which is particularly stunning after dark.

On some ships, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen is positioned right next door to the wine bar, while other ships have combined the two into one outpost.

This giant meatball can be found on the menu of Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships. The meal begins with delicious garlic knots. Then, guests can choose between a variety of starters including an assortment of meats and cheeses. Other options include Italian sausage soup, calamari and polenta, or salami and mozzarella. The giant meatball with marinara and crispy breadsticks is my favorite starter. The menu for Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, Royal Caribbean’s ships. The mains are next. They all sound delicious, so don’t be surprised when you can’t decide what to order. Choose from a variety of dishes, including chicken parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo, linguine or shrimp with clams, salmon over penne, pasta carbonara, pomodoro, and grilled filet. The items marked as “Nonna’s Favorites” have hearts on them and include osso Buco, steak muffuletta and lasagna. I ordered the fettuccine without chicken, and it was fantastic.

Diners who are in the mood for a slice of pizza can opt for a whole pie as their entree. Choose from classics like Margherita or meat lovers or something more adventurous like mushroom, truffle, and egg or prosciutto. Giovanni’s Pizza is amazing. If there’s still room for dessert, and that’s an important “if,” you won’t be disappointed with a ricotta-filled cannoli or a pistachio sorbet with raspberries, or a chocolate ravioli with Nutella and chocolate sauce (fried pasta with Nutella and chocolate sauce).

Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen also has a menu for children ages 3 to 12. The majority of items are just kid-sized portions from the menu for adults. The menu includes the giant meatball as well as chicken parmigiana and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, they can choose from tiramisu, Nutella and banana stromboli, and fresh fruit.
