The 6 Best Hotels In New Orleans (Updated for 2024).
New Orleans is my favorite place in the entire world. This city has a certain something. It’s magic. It’s impossible to not have a great time. The city has really recovered from Hurricane Katrina. (I visited immediately after the storm and it looked like a different place. I’m happy to see that the city is thriving. It’s a very popular destination, not only because of Mardi Gras. A lot of conferences, music festivals, and bachelor/bachelorette parties are held here. You can also find a lot of things to do and see. There are many hotels in the area. Not all hotels are worth it. To save you time and make sure you have an amazing experience, I’ve listed my top hotels in New Orleans, based on my many visits. Villa Convento
Villa Convento is steeped in history. The building, located in the French Quarter’s famous French Quarter was once a convent. It is also believed to be the House of the Rising Sun from the 1960s Animals song. The Old-World charm of the hotel is my favorite: the arched check-in counter, the exposed brick and wood-paneled walls, as well as the chandeliers that hang in the halls. It’s gorgeous. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but it serves complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby throughout the day. The standard check-out time is 12pm. (If you are here to party you will appreciate this too). The villa offers loft, courtyard, and balcony rooms as well as suites for families or friends traveling together. The rooms feature antique furniture, including wooden nightstands and headboards. There is also artwork on the wall. All rooms are equipped with a flatscreen television, complimentary toiletries, and a seating area. The bathrooms and rooms are small, but they do not have many amenities. There are some rooms with minifridges. However, there is a microwave and fridge in the lobby that guests can use. The perfect option for budget-conscious travellers who want to stay in the French Quarter.

2. As the name implies, this Victorian-style building and national landmark was a jail in 1902. The building was originally a library, before it was transformed into a boutique-style hotel run by two brothers. Although not everyone would want to stay at a former prison, I love the history of it and find it very unique. The rooftop deck is a great feature, as well as a guest kitchen (there is no restaurant on-site and no breakfast). Each of the nine rooms is unique. You can choose to stay in the most affordable room, which is called The Cage. It has a former prisoner’s name carved on the wall. The rooms have high ceilings and original hardwood floors. They also feature wood panel wainscoting that was reclaimed from Katrina debris. All rooms feature antique furniture, queen beds and memory foam mattresses. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations with subway-tiled walls. Toiletries are included. The hotel is in Treme which is a place that’s not on the usual tourist route. This area is my favorite because it has so many traditional Creole-Cajun dishes. This is a wonderful choice for foodies.

3. St. Charles Coach House
Located in Lower Garden District on the historic St. Charles Street, this 3-star hotel was constructed in 1921. The entire hotel was renovated, and the rooms now have a warm, contemporary look, while the lobby, common areas, and the other public spaces are decorated with historic touches, like exposed brick. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but Avenue Cafe is less than a half-block away and offers a variety of tasty options. The rooms are spacious and have a minimalistic design with lots of natural lighting. The rooms are equipped with a desk and comfortable chair, a Keurig coffee machine, flatscreen television, refrigerator, and thick mattresses. The newly renovated bathrooms are spacious, have bright, fun tiles, offer complimentary toiletries and a walk-in shower with excellent water pressure. It’s a budget-friendly, comfortable place to stay. The streetcar stops in front, so it is easy to travel around the city.

4. Creole Gardens inn
This welcoming guesthouse is situated in an historic 19th century antebellum house in the Garden District. The hosts are friendly and warm, and they provide a delicious breakfast every morning, which includes freshly baked pastries, such as apple fritters and sticky buns. The inner courtyard, shaded by banana trees, is the ideal place to relax at the end of a busy day. The rooms at the hotel are unique, ranging from the small cottage rooms to the sprawling suites of the mansion. There’s even one room that is supposed to be haunted! The rooms are decorated with boldly painted walls, unique artwork from the area, hardwood flooring, and eclectic furnishings like four-poster bed and large wooden wardrobes. The beds are comfortable and thick, and there are large windows that let in lots of light. This is a good choice for those who want to experience southern hospitality.

5. Serenity In The Marigny
Serenity combines the best of a bed and breakfast with a resort. On the first floor are the rooms, while on the second is a full service spa. You can enjoy a range of massages and spend time in the spa. You can relax in the rooftop hot tub or lounge. Breakfast is included in the B&B. It’s nice to have a variety of healthy foods like fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and pastries. There are also hot dishes made from scratch like waffles or pancakes. It’s also great that you can talk to the owners at breakfast and get tips about what to do, see, and eat. This makes the experience even more personal. The rooms are decorated in a stylish way, with unique chandeliers and modern art on the wall. Each room has its own entrance. The rooms are on the small side but they come with a desk, Smart TVs and comfortable pillow-top mattresses. The large bathrooms have beautiful tiles and rainfall shower heads that provide good water pressure. The hotel also provides a lot of towels and complimentary toiletries. It is a very relaxing and peaceful place to stay.

5. Maison Metier
This is the perfect place if you want luxury, but also want a larger hotel with more amenities. This five-star Hotel is located in the Warehouse District and it’s absolutely stunning. It’s the eclectic cocktail bar that I find most interesting. You enter it through a secret bookcase. The bar is also really cool, with built-in red bookcases, colorful furnishings, patterned carpets, and great drinks. The lobby also has a cocktail bar, which offers complimentary wine, cheeses, charcuterie, and fruit every evening. While breakfast is not included (and it’s a bit expensive), I love the way it’s served in a beautiful room that’s filled with natural light. You can use the pool and fitness center across the street as a guest. The rooms are elegant and spacious, with large windows and high ceilings. They also feature unique artworks on the walls. Bathrooms are also huge and stunning, with walk-in showers and tiled floors. They come with complimentary toiletries, as well as deep soaking bathtubs. The 55″ TV is accompanied by a mini-fridge and blackout curtains. There’s also a sofa or chair in the seating area. You can also get free coffee and tea delivered in your room each morning. This hotel is amazing. The hotel is both interesting and funky, yet also refined and luxurious. It’s also in a great place!
